    Gents,

No.218 (Gold Coast) Squadron ORB records a ASR flight carried out by Squadron Leader A Samson in December, he was joined by a Wing Commander W Pattison. There is no other mention of this officer, can anyone tell me anything about Wing Commander W Pattison?

    TIA.

    Regards

    Steve, Hi,
Yr man might be William Allison Pattison.
Born 1904 (if he retired on his 55th birthday).
    Commissioned 1937 GD (39422).
Lots of hits in the LG. He appeared to do time in a few Branches (GD, Admin & Spec Duties, and Sec). Held various Temp/Acting ranks.
Retired 1 Jul 1959 as Sqn Ldr Secretarial
    Died Birmingham 1971

    Steve,
Often, the reason why specific individuals did not appear on Manifests/Slop-Chits, etc, etc, was either they were on a "Jolly" - or were from one of the many "Nefarious Purposes Committees" that existed in WW2. According to the LG he (if, indeed, this is yr man?!) didn't transfer to Admin & Spec Duties until 31 Oct 44. But he may have been playing the "spook" long before that!
