    Default 70 Sqn RAF

On the night 24.05.1944 it is presumed two 70 Sqn Wellingtons collided over the target in Italy. One of these was Wellington Mk.X HE-627.

I have a number of names of the two crews.

The question is what was the other Wellingtons serial number and who crewed which aircraft

    Hello,

You have missed one name in your listing:

975232 Sgt Archibald BREWSTER RAFVR. Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio. Joint Grave XX. H. 11-12.

The other aircraft involved in the mid-air collision was Wellington X JA506.

    Can't help with crew make-up.

    Col.

    How about JA506?

I think you are missing somebody and it is the chap who is with Simpson in Joint Grave XX H 11-12

Errol puts the three NZ men in JA506 and the two SAAF men are in the other aircraft, according to Winston Brent.

Probably the pair of Brewster and Simpson were in the same aircraft but not neceesarily, if they were the only two who could not be identified individually from aircraft which crashed locked together.

According to a document on Allwright's service record the crew-aircraft tie up was:

    JA206
    Gawith (captain)
    Greenslade (nav)
    Waaka (wop)
    Allwright (air bomber)
    Harding (rear gunner)

    HE627
    Deelman (captain)
    Davis (nav)
    Brewster (wop)
    Sawnders (air bomber)
    Simpson (rear gunner)

Errol is correct, save that Gawith and Co were flying JA506, and the air bomber in the other aircraft was Saunders, not Sawnders.
