Default Squadron Leader J.W. 'Jim' Fiander RCAF

    Hi all,

Could anyone help me find 'Jim' Fiander's first and middle names? I am also looking for his service number.

He was a Pilot Officer with 401 Squadron in 1942 and later became a Squadron Leader back in Canada after the war. Any help greatly appreciated!

    Fox.

    The Canadian Gazette (3 September 1949) has a F/L J.W. Fiander (20036) (P) who was granted a short service commission (1 October 1946-30 September 1951).

Not sure if this is your man or not.

Not impossible. S/L J.W. Fiander was in command of 434 Squadron from May 1953 to November 1954. He later became CO of RCAF Moisie before being transferred to RCAF Headquarters at Ottawa. But I still cannot find his wartime serial number as a commissioned officer.
