I am currently finishing a book about my mother and father who were both stationed in Halifax durning the war. My mom was at HMCS Stadacona and my dad was a RCAF pilot who was posted to #1 Y Depot, Halifax for about a month before being sent to England in September of 1943. He eventually became a Mosquito pilot in the 409 Squadron.
I would like information about #1 Y Depot, Halifax. Where exactly was it in the city? What happened there? In the letters my dad wrote home to his parents in Hamilton it seemed he was very bored and spent a lot of time at the airfield in Dartmouth. He also worked as an instructor on a link trainer while waiting for his posting.
Any help you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks
Don
