Default Blenheim loss 5 July 1941

    Hi,

I'm looking for information of Blenheim loss on 5 July 1941 near Ostend. There were 6 Blenheims attacked 3 M/Vs and 4 "E"Boats. One of them was shot down by flak.

    Thanx in advance

    Hi

Graham Warner's Bristol Blenheim A Complete History does not mention any Blenheims being lost in this area on the 5th July however it does mention a 107 Sqn Blenheim being lost on 6th July. This A/C was hit by a flak ship and ditched in the Scheldt Estuary which is around 30km from Ostend.

Could this be the A/C in question?

Default Blehneim loss 5 July 1941

    Hi Simon,

I got this information from NA AIR 16/235 (Fighter Command intelligence summary No 217-301 1941 Jan. 1941 Dec.), p. 234. I was interesting in is it correct because in Chronicle of 306 Sqn. which protected Blenheims those day there is an information about attack of 3 Me 109s which damaged one bomber.
In AIR 16/235 document on the date 6 July there is information flak near Dunkirk broke up the formation of 6 Blenheims without bombers success.

Probably both informations mixed. I have only few cards of 107 Sqn. ORB but on 5 July 1941 this unit was a stood off.

    Thanx for answer
