    Default A.C.1/L.A.C. Alfred Denton Russell

On my father's RAF record of service there is something which puzzles me. His posting after his training as a F/Mech/E was to 26 O.T.U. which I know was Wing in Buckinghamshire, this was on 13/5/42 but immediately below this reference there is 76 Sqd plus the reason, H H, and initials. What puzzles me though is that this has been crossed out and NOT ISSUED has been written beside it. Does anyone know why this would have been done please, I am just curious as after that he remained at 26 O.T.U. until he was demobbed on 31/10/45.

    Many thanks,

    Pauline.

He was posted first to the strength of the OTU

HH means that it was not intended that he remain at the OTU but was subject to a paper transfer of ownership, prior to actual movement from the strength of the OTU to 76 Sqn and Headquarters Bonber Command as part of it's immediate reserve of manpower.

as you say this paper transfer order was not issued and so the posting was cancelled.
