    Default B&Ham /No 1 ACRC

Looking up B&Ham No 1 ACRC I keep getting a number of different names such as Babbacombe, Lords Cricket Ground, St Johns Wood and Regents Park.

I noticed someone else had the same problem searching for No 1 ACRC and it has been noted Regents Park and St Johns Wood are one and the same.

Can any one tell me what B&Ham means in reference to No 1 ACRC?

RAF Regents Park consisted of an area in north-west London which incorporated large areas of Regents Park, St John's Wood and Lords Cricket Ground.

Throughout its life it was known as Aircrew Receiving Centre (ACRC), 1 ACRC and 3 ACRC.

Babbacombe came into the equation because there was a bottleneck to get into the Initial Training Wings so an ITW "Receiving Wing" was set up in Babbacombe to act as a funnel.

I have not come across B&Ham in the context of ACRC, although there was an Aviation Candidates Selection Board (ACSB) in Birmingham, which was the stage before ACRC. Would you be able to e-mail me a copy of the service record so that I could have a look?

    Regards

    Pete
