Default informations about Tadeusz POSTEK, buried in Lille-Sud cemetery

    Hello

I'm looking for informations about ST SZER Tadeusz POSTEK, P.707372, Polish Air Force, 72nd Motor Transport Light Repair Unit. He died suddenly on 7 October 1944, aged 18. He's buried in Lille-sud cemetery, 5 - C - 1.

What would be the equivalent of his Polish rank ?

Where was his unit based ? Was it really linked to the Polish Air Force ? 131 (P) Wing had already left B51 Lille-Vendeville by then, so I'm wondering about him.

Similarly, there are four other Polish casualties buried in the same cemetery. I don't think they were member of the Polish Air Force. Does one of our Polish member can confirm / infirm ?

    Hello Henk,

Thanks for these details. I also have this AC2 rank for Postek. The rank I've quoted is the one carved on the grave.

Plot 82 in Lille-Sud cemetery is the main CWGC plot. There are 4 other small CWGC plots in the cemetery, all WW1, but only plot 82 contains WW2 graves. It used to contain the graves of US airmen as well, but they were transfered soon after the end of the war.

Received on Email (Can forward contact if anyone is interested):

I am contacting you on behalf of my husband. His uncle is Taduesz Postek. Someone asked a question on you site about him. We have recently found out that he and his family are eligible for the Siberian Cross from the Polish govt. Our family lives in either Canada or the USA. We have not been to Europe to visit the grave. We are curious as to why questions were being asked about him. Please let me know. Sincerely, Shawn
