    Default S/L Moore, 455 Sqn, March 1942

    Hi all

Wondering if anyone could possibly please help me with the first name initials of a 'S/L Moore' (RAAF?), flying Hampdens with 455 Sqn in March 1942?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Hi Ian,

43290 S/L Philip Bennett "Mickey" MOORE DFC (later Bar) RAF (an Australian, serving in the RAF - 50 Sqn RAF., 455 Sqn., 61 Sqn RAF. Regular air force officer. Born Pyramid Hill, Victoria, Australia 12 July, 1914).

Moore was posted in from 25 OTU (w.e.f. 9/3/42), to replace 36129 S/L Dereck Jack FRENCH DFC., as "A" Flight commander. He had just started his second tour of ops.

Philip Moore was later awarded an MBE(C) (13/6/1981), for Public service.

    Hi Col

Brilliant, many thanks for that. So he would have been 'RAF' not 'RAAF"?

Another one ticked off the list!

    : )
