    Hi all,
I am looking for info regarding J.R.Wilson Aus.409264.

    Hello Mojmir,

I have had the similar problems finding detail about J.R. Wilson. With access to information from Australian War Memorial documents I have been able to piece together the following –

    49 Flt RAF?: ?? - 2 Apr 44
    131 Sqn RAF: 2 Apr 44 - 18 Nov 44
    234 Sqn RAF: 18 Nov 44 – 26 Mar 45
    58 OTU RAF: 26 Mar 45 -

Unfortunately his forenames are still a mystery, making it difficult to narrow a search through the NAA website.

    Regards, Drew H

Thank you very much to all of you for your immense help. It narrowed the focus of my search to 1943. There is next stone to the mosaic from the 257 Sqn’s ORB:

    Aus.409264 F/Sgt J.R.Wilson
    17/07/1943 from 55 OTU to 257 Squadron
12/08/1943 from 257 Sqn to 1449 Flight (Detachment from 87 Squadron for defence of Scilly Isles.) together with P/O Hodgson

    I had had a note: J.R.Wilson (RAAF), 55 OTU, 1449 Flight, …(Typhoons)

    Best regards

    Hello Mojmir,
Just a passingt thought, try an 'A' in front of the number and see what happens!

No one specifically mentioned the Nominal Roll of Australians in WWII database, so I tried it. Nobody in the RAAF with that serial number shows up. There are 48 J. R. Wilson listings, of which 14 are RAAF. Presumably these candidates have been ruled out...I haven't investigated further.

    Cheers,

    Matt
