My uncle Francis Stendel (rear gunner) was part of a crew that included John Skinner (pilot) Jack Martin (wireless operator) Bertram Wright (bomb aimer) Peter Tannen (navigator) and Bill Hassiel? (m.u. gunner). This information comes from a photo taken in York - probably early 1944.
I know that a Halifax crashed on 2/3 June 1944 in France with some of these men on board but my uncle was not with them as he had been injured in an ealier crash landing. If anyone can help me with the other crew member who took my uncle's place as rear gunner and what happened to the rest of the crew - I would be most grateful.
