    Default "Muffall" Exercises

Would anyone know what a Muffall exercise consisted of? there are entries in 1663 HCU Orbs mid '44 referring to them, they lasted about 4 to 5 hours usually at night but on occasion have (daylight) next to the entry.
They are always referred to in inverted commas e.g.

23.26 Four aircraft airborne on "Muffall" exercise.

04.00 Above four aircraft landed safely at Base.

I don't know what relevance the " " have but Bullseye exercises recorded on the same page aren't referred to as "Bullseye" exercises. I Hope that makes sense.

    Cheers

Hope you don't mind me bringing this back up.

Marston Moor Orb refers to an aircraft carrying out Muffale exercise on 26th April 44, cross checking with 1663, six aircraft carried out a Muffel exercise on the same date.

Muffall, Muffel, Muffale, anyone any ideas?
