Can anyone ID a F/O J R Barnes from this web site

    http://www.jonnywilliamson.com/product/scarce-gold-wwii-raf-caterpillar-club-badge-to-a-fo-j-r-barnes

I am interested as it mentions 18th November 1938 - but this may have been just the date the parachute was manufactured that he used

I looked in the prewar Air Force list and a few ww2 ones and can't find anyone with those initials, there was a Sgt John Robert Barnes but he was killed in 1940

There is a F/O J R Barnes linked with raf elsham wolds here

    www.forces-war-records.co.uk/search/record.asp?db=bc

But you have to register/sign up

There may of course be a typo in the name, but the date intrigues me as it would point to a bale out around the late 1930s' or early 1940s (do not know shelf life of a parachute)

There was a F/O J. R. BARNES, M.C. (113502) in technical and admin branch in 1945 - So there must be a story how he got his MC !
