    Default Sgt. A.P.Cliff-McCulloch

I've been gathering information on Sergeant/Air Gunner (1825003) Alexander Peter Cliff-McCulloch, RAFVR. Alexander served with 138 (Special Duty) Squadron and was KIA 1 June 1944.
I've run across two London Gazette notices that I don't understand.
The first, dated 11 June 1940, granting a temp. commission as a Pilot Officer "on being employed by the RAF on 13 May 1940" to 2nd Lt. Alexander Peter Cliff-McCulloch, KOSB (43542)
The second, dated 23 July 1940, notes his return to the Army as from 14 June 1940.

Assuming there was not two Alexander Peter Cliff-McCullochs - any ideas what was going on?????

I should add that his home was near Gatehouse-of-Fleet in Kirkcudbrightshire - so being a King's Own Scottish Borderer make sense.
    Ken
