I am from Australia & I am part of a volunteer family history group called Wiltshire OPC. I look after the Compton Chamberlayne page & am currently researching Michael Thomas Gibson HENRY so that I can do a Memorial page for him.

I am trying to find out why he was awarded a DFC (London Gazette 30 July, 1940). He was part of 10 Squadron then 35 Squadron. He died on 13th January, 1941 after the Halifax L9487 he was piloting crashed over Yorkshire (the cap on one of the fuel tanks had not been secured after refuelling).

I have the following information as well - (so that no one doubles up of what I have already found)
Born 1912 (To parents Thomas Gibson & Edith Margaret HENRY) ,
Married 1939 to Elizabeth M Ward,
Buried Roecliffe, ST Mary Churchyard........... (I do have a photo of headstone)

Included on Sedbergh School Roll of Honour where he attended from 1926 -1930.

I have located London Gazette inclusions for 20 July, 1937 / 24 May 1938 / 12 Dec 1939 / 30 July 1940 & 14 Jan 1941)

Have also found 4 inclusions in yorkshire-aircraft.co.uk regarding M T G HENRY

Many thanks for your time
