looking to see if there is any reason why Warrant Officer George Stratford was transferred to 78 Sqn and if he completed any operations with 76 Sqn. He joined 78 at the start of July 1944 as a singleton, the rest of his crew coming from 41 Base, they were all killed on their 4th operation with the Sqn on a night raid to the V1 site at Acquet. Family history says that this was his 28th operation.

    Regards

    Daz,
At the moment, i can tell you that his last op with 76sqdn was on 28/29th June, to Blainville. ORB does not record why/when he was posted out to 78, but his crew were broken up and went out into other crews. I can search back through for any previous ops over the next couple of days.

thanks very much, that would be great if you could see what operations he did with 76 Sqn. Did the other crew members remain with 76 Sqn? Also were any of them called Benson?

    Thanks again

Thank you so much, I guess we will never know why he moved, disagreement with the crew perhaps, strange that he left the Sqn and the others were recrewed internally. I've only seen this happen before for disciplinary reasons.

    Thanks again

    Thanks Col,
Missed the Trouville op on the 11th, only because the Form 541 did not list it.
