Civilian killed April 10/11,1945

At 23:17 hours, April 10,1945, a Lancaster from Leeming landed, and overshot the end of the runway, running across Gatenby Lane. A civilian, apparently walking on this road was struck by this Lancaster. He was removed by ambulance and later died in hospital. Any ideas who this person may of been, last name, possibly Thompson.

unfortunately I was not able to find a civilian Thompson on the date you mentioned or later.
I suggest you to try Advanced Search form on cwgc.org and with data you have try to find the possibly casualty according to the date and possibly local cemetery - if recorded.

Try looking at deaths on FreeBmd for that Qtr of 1945 based on possible death registration districts

I've checked Geoffs search engine for civilian deaths up to 19/4- nothing in that area

1 Let it be assumed yr man was actually named THOMPSON.
2 Let it be assumed that the ambulance took him to Northallerton or Thirsk Hospitals where he died in one of them. Nothing in the Northallerton Reg Dist. But, in the Thirsk Reg Dist there is:-

Registration district: [?] Thirsk
County: Yorkshire

I would go for James Thompson, Age 51, Wensleydale, June Qt 1945. That district did cover Leeming, in the parish of Exelby Leeming & Newton. Looks like he never got to hospital, possibly the station sick quarters, but no further.

The Lancaster involved was ME540, AL-P, of 429 Sqn. The pilot was W/O A H SELLER, R/101851, RCAF. Time of incident, 2317, on the 10th.
