Default Hughes Hugh Kenneth RAF NO 748578 / 121439 Officer

Hi am looking for anything on this Pilot , during his time with 87 Sqd , he Joined 87 from 79 Sqd on the 11/1/41 and it seems was with them until early 1944 , which seems a long time , I know 87 went to the ME Nov 42 .

Hughes then went to several OTU'S as a Navigational Instructor before going to 3 Sqd where he had further claims

if anyone can push me further on with this i would as always be very thankful .

    TIA Phill jones

We came across this when looking for anything about my father Ken Hughes - no. 121439 - RAF no. 748578, known as The Ogre in the Air Force. He died in 2005 leaving a war time memoir which I have recently been looking through.
There is one big anomaly in the text - he says 87 squadron were starved & murdered in North Africa, when he was on leave...
I am trying to get to the bottom of this story and wonder if you can help at all?
His memoir contains so much of interest - maybe there is something in it to answer a query for you.
