    Default Fairey IIIF S1204 AB Serials Lookup Please

    Can anyone with the relevenat AB Serials book please look up Fairey IIIF S1204 ?

    I have two different fates for this

    Accident in Aug 1930 S1204 Fairey IIIF with 14 Sqn

    or

    207/47/45/35 Sqns Abandoned after engine cut 8.2.36 from

    I have a link to a possible reference - but maybe anotehr aircraft??

    47 Sqn ORB Feb 1936 - On 9th eight aircraft left Khartoum to serach for a Fairey IIIF which had force landed when flying from Juba to Malakal. The lost aircraft was located near Ket on 10th and the flight returned on the 12th.

    All 207/47/45/35 Sqns were in Sudan/Egypt at the time

    there is no 'S' Register; aircraft in the 'S' series were designed for shipboard operation or for flying over the sea. The series ran to S1865 before the system was abandoned in favour of the 'K' series then current. The RN operated examples are listed in the FAA Aircraft books, but the RAF operated versions are not.

    However I recall that Aeromilitaria produced a (partial) list of the 'S' serials some time ago. I understand that there is a new index for AB magazines installed on ABIX; you may get lucky!

    I think some S Serials are in the J Serial book (RAF used aircraft) - if not then in AB RN serials 1919 to 1929 - I think

    re: Aeromilitaria produced a (partial) list of the 'S' serials some time ago - good memory!

    Paul, your recall is at least as good as mine! I wouldn't have thought to look in the 'J' book, but here it is

    HAD 21.6.27; 207S (B2) 31.1.28; Mkrs recon, catapult fitment and cvt all metal on cont 882332/28; AW/CN 11.9.29; PD Sealand 19.9.29; Shipped SS Hatash 28.11.29; 47S 5.12.29; 14S, FL and crashed 8.30; 45S: AD Aboukir rebuilt as SR1204; 14S 5.32; AD Aboukir 11.33; 45S; abandoned after engine cut at 500' 8.2.36; SOC 8.6.36.

    HAD = Home Aircraft Depot
    AW/CN = Awaiting collection
    PD = Packing Depot
    AD = Aircraft Depot
