Default P/O Robert Voase Jeff Bale Out August 19, 1939 Steeplemorden, Cambridge 85 Sqn?

I have just found this one..

    Mon 21 Aug 1939
    Western Daily Press
Blinded by the dazzling beam of a searchlight, was flying in formation with two other planes, Pilot Officer Robert Voase Jeff, of Debden, Essex, leaped by parachute from his 'plane as it dived to the ground and burst into flames at Steeplemorden, Cambridge, early on Saturday. He landed on a tombstone in a churchyard.
Robert Voase Jeff Bale#39285. Killed 87 Sqn 11th August 1940 as Flight Lieutenant with DFC and Bar, Croix de Guerre. Lost Hurricane I V7231 over Portland Bill

I assume this occurred when 85 Sqn had Gladiators before re-equipping with Hurricanes Sept 4 1939 - Can anyone ID this aircraft?

    Thanks

    Paul,
according to MotBoB, Jeff was with 87 S from 1937. I have Hurricane L1618 abandoned and spinning into the ground at Steeple Morden on the day before, 18/8/39.

Dave thats it - Thanks - Says 'early Sat Morning' which would be August 19th 1939, but of course it could have taken off on Friday 18th 1939 and be in the very late hours/early hours it was searchlight operation after all

    Paul
