BLAKE, Albert Stanley, Flight Sergeant (364506) - Air Force Medal - awarded as per London Gazette dated 8 June 1939 in King's Birthday List; reported in Aeroplane of 14 June 1939. Born 16 April 1908. Commissioned 16 May 1940. Promoted Squadron Leader, 1 May 1951. Retired in Technical Branch, 23 May 1957.

Alas, at this date I have no details as to the circumstances of the award.

Blake retired as an acting Wing Commander, as Hugh states and was allowed to 'retain' that rank.

He appears in the 1982 Retired List but is gone by the 2007 List - but then he would have been 99!!!!
