    Default B17 Crash in Carleton Rode, Norfolk

    Can anyone please give me further information on a B17 which crashed in Rode Lane, Carleton Rode, Norfolk in or around September 1944. I believe it flew from Hardwick

    This may be something completely different from what you are looking for, but the site below gives details of a mid-air collision between 2 B-24 above Carleton Rode in Nov 1944.

    Hello,

    Take you pick:

    21-11-1944 - 389BG - 2 B-24s collided during assembly and crashed at Carleton Rode, 17 killed.
    (see post #2)
    16-02-1945 - 379BG - B-17 abandoned and crashed Carleton Rode.
    (525BS/379BG [Kimbolton,Hunts.] - B-17G 42-97302)
    23-02-1945 - 453BG - B-24 crash-landed Carleton Rode, crew injured.
    (759BS/453BG [Old Buckenham,Norfolk] - B-24J 42-50715)

    93rd Bomb Group based at Hardwick.
