    Default Can anyone help with information on F/O WR Short 149601

    Can anyone on here help with service information / cause of death of F/O William Ronald Short [Pilot] Service number 149601.

    Graduated in the USA in 1941. Born 1915 Bideford.

    Killed on Active Service 27.4.1945 aged 29 (His death was registered at Ampthill, Bedfordshire) death possibly associated with "Lidlington, Beds, North Common Farm, Mogborough Hill"

    Not much help but same page of the death register has LAC Arthur Noble 1106573, I dare say the two deaths are connected

    Thanks for that; I had pursued that angle today but discounted it as Arthur Noble appears on 51 Squadron roll of honour, but William Short doesn't .... but I guess the deaths maybe non squadron (or even non flying) related.

    Perhaps associated with Mosquito DD789 of 51 OTU '4m S of Cranfield ' on this date. Approx in the right place.

    Noble's entry in Chorley's ROH has his unit as Snaith rather than 51 Squadron so it looks like his was a Station appointment and not a Squadron one.

    Hello,

    It might have been a slip of the finger between 51 OTU and 51 Squadron. Same figure but not same unit designation after that. I've seen very rare such confusions in CWGC entries.
