    Default Oberstl°ytnant Sverre Petterssen NAF

I think this query just about creeps in to the fringes of this forum as it concerns the forecasts issued for the D-day landings - which obviously affected all the RAF Commands. The forecasts were the results of the combined efforts of three 2-man teams, the Met Office, Admiralty and American. Oberstl°ytnant Sverre Petterssen, a Norwegian, was attached to the Met Office and worked as part of its team.

In the aftermath, the work of many of those involved was recognised by their governments, and I am trying to determine if Petterssen received an award from the Norwegian government - I can find no record of either the British or Americans recognising his efforts although they did for others.

Can any of our Norwegian forumites help please?

    TIA

According to his obit he received a CBE in 1948 for his war service. If you would like a copy, I can email to you. He also received a number of awards for post-war work

He was also made Commander of the Order od St Olaf (Norwegian) in 1949.
