Default Sgt (S/L) John Alfred William Long, VR-1280311/133263

    Hello there,
Could anyone please help me with this 65 sqn pilot in 1942. I wish to know where he came from and what other units he served with. He stooped on the RAF and was a S/L on 1-1-51.
    Many thanks,
    Roy

There is a 1948 Royal Aero Club license for a John Alfred LONG, born 14 April 1922 in London.
Address given as Central Flying School, Little Rissington.
He was an Instructor and the reason for allocating him the license was he was a 'Qualified Service Pilot'

And there is a nice portrait image also.

Now, I cannot see a John Alfred LONG in the London Gazette, the birth index for 1922 contains a John A W LONG, so I think they are the one and the same.
