Default 39 Squadron Beauforts in the Med...

As part of ongoing local "roll of honour" research I am seeking some help from any experts on the above, particularly on the losses of 15/06/42 which I understand was an attack on the Italian fleet during the defence of Malta. Sgt (Observer) 1014445 Hugh Gregory Edge was one of the men lost on this date, he is remembered on the Alamein memorial and listed in CWGC as belonging to 39 Squadron, but unsure whether or not he was based on Malta or N Africa. I have also been unable to establish where the the losses for Beaufort squadrons are listed!...a crew list and any other help much appreciated please!

    Hello,

Sgt EDGE, and the events of 15-6-1942, are discussed here:

I also recommend you consult the following reference for some background info:

Armed Rovers by Nesbitt may also have something, if not background info for Beaufort ops in Med area.

Many thanks gentleman, once again you have set me back on the straight and narrow! Would be interested to know if twin engined torpedo bombers under AHq Middle East would be listed as Coastal Command losses or indeed in another volume of which I am unaware, as nothing listed in Chorleys or Gunby and Temple.

    Many thanks

    Alan.
