Default Hawker Hind K5555 of 12 Sqn abandoned in icing conditions.? January 10, 1938

All I have a list of some pre-war incidents that I am working through- I am hoping someone can look up the K file entry for me for Hawker Hind K5555 - I have " 12 Sqn abandoned in icing conditions. January 10, 1938" - I am wondering if this is a confsuion for K5501 February 17, 1938 - P/O George Alan Thompson Iced up and crashed into houses, Cheltenham 17-2-1938

    Thanks

    Paul,

K File shows both aircraft 12 Sqn and fates as per your post, except that K5501 was also 'abandoned' before crashing. No names given but looks as though there were two Caterpillars.

Thanks - looks like I have unknown airman on first date (also not obvious in the Irvin list I have) - may need to get the ORB for the period to check

Got the ORB for this - no mention of any incident I suspect the second one occurred when some of the Sqn new Battle aircraft were being collected from Fairey at Stockport. It was in flight of 5 and the flight was Manchester to Andover. Certainly it was being flown solo so could have been used to ferry crews 'north'
