Default 75 Squadron Wellington X9764 Crew

Can anybody help with advising on the crew in particular the rear gunner who baled out over Newmarket after the raid to Hannover on the 12 August 1942. X9764 was captained by the RAAF pilot H A Roberts who managed to crash land after the crew had departed.

    Thank you.

    Dear all,

To extend this thread: does someone perhaps has the identities (first names/ service numbers) of Sgt Smith, Sgt Hill and Sgt Strickland on file?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hans

Forgot to mention, Strickland was a W/Opr A/G, NOT a flight engineer (who were only carried on larger, usually 4-engined aircraft, and big flying boats, never on Welelingtons to my knowledge.)

    Some details for Faguy,

FAGUY, Sergeant Joseph Paul Andre, RCAF.
R.55329, J.15381 Air Gunner 75 Sqn X June to 13 August 1941, then February 1942. Crewed with Sgt F C Fox as Rear-gunner, on ops from 11/6/41, then to P/O H A Roberts as R/G from 3/7/41. On 12-13 August 1941, on return from a raid on Hanover, the crew baled out with the pilot crash-landing the aircraft, Sgt Faguy being injured. Appears to have flown one more op as Rear-gunner, with Sgt M F G Fraser, on 13/2/42. Final rank in RCAF was F/O.

    Hi David,

Wonderful info! How did you obtain that? I couldn't find it in the ORB or appendices...

Sgt K M Smith must have been Kenneth Martin Smith according to the AIR78 files.

    Regards,
    Hans

    Hans,
I think the information on Smith came from book on British POWs (which is why there is a service number, but no full given names). Also the captain (Roberts, RAAF) was apparently born in NZ.
