    Default F/S P BGustavsen, R.113728, KIA 29.03.1943, 428 Sqn

    F/S Preben Brandt Gustavsen, R.113728, was born in Denmark in 1923, but the family moved to Canada the same year.

    He was trained as navigator in RCAF and is mentioned on the No. 2 Air Navigaton School, Pennfield Ridge Air Station, cf.
    http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbpennfi/penn8b2No2ANS.htm

    He is killed in action on 29.03.1943 during the Bochum raid while at 428 Sqn in Wellington III (BK564 NA-R).

    Does anyone know more of this man?

    Mikkel,

    RCAF Casualty List 683 lists next of kin as Carl Gustavsen (father) of Red Head, New Brunswick.

    Mikkel,

    The aircraft (Wellington BK564) crashed at Gelsenkirchen. The crew were;

    Sgt J L R F Cartier RCAF +
    Sgt P B Gustaveen RCAF +
    F/O J F Spencer +
    Sgt H F Rhodes INJ Later died 12/4/43.
    Sgt D King RCAF POW

    Most likely a victum of flak as no night fighter put in a claim for this aircraft. I suggest you ask the Canadian Archives for Kng's file as it might give you some details on their loss.

    Regards,

    John.
