First fatality may be 1-2-38 - 111 Sqn - L1556 - Dived into ground 1 mile W of Northolt. Pilot hit head on Hood. Pilot: F/O Mervyn Seymour Bocquet Killed. may not be first Hurrcane accident I feel Hurri600 may be along shortly to help
Can anyone please name the first pilot to be killed flying a Hurricane on active service. One would assume there would have been pre war fatalities, but I'd be interested to know who it was.
Kind Regards
Andy

As Paul stated
F/o M.S.Bouquet of No. 111 Squadron appears to have been the first Service Pilot killed flying.
When on the 1st of Febuary 1938 he was flying Hurricane L1556, taking part in an Exercise in Co-operation with the Anti Gas School at Northolt. The Accident card for this aircraft states that he made 3 dives and was climbing for a 4th when the aircraft winged over on to its back and dived into the ground. (believed Pilot may have hit his head and been knocked out).
Thanks Hurri, much appreciated.
Any idea on a burial location for the pilot?
