Default 1407 Met Flight ORB - is anyone visiting the NA?

I'm wondering if anyone visiting the NA in the near future, could help me with a single entry in the 1407 Met Flight ORB (AIR 29/866) please?

On 7 December1941 a Hudson of 1407 Met Flight, piloted by Flt Lt H Eccles, flew from Kaldadarnes (Iceland) to Aldergrove. What I'm after is the time the Hudson left Kaldadarnes. If the ATA at Aldergrove is recorded that would be useful but not imperative as I can estimate the flight time.

I don't know the crew details, but Flt Lt Kraus was a passenger.

    Hello Brian,

Have you been able to establish the time the Hudson left Kaldadarnes for Aldergrove?

I'm afraid not Norman, nor have I been able to visit the NA myself.

Good evening Bruce, and 'Yes please'.

On 7 December1941 a Hudson of 1407 Met Flight, piloted by Flt Lt H Eccles, flew from Kaldadarnes (Iceland) to Aldergrove. What I'm really after is the time the Hudson left Kaldadarnes, but if the 1407 ORB records the time the aircraft landed at Aldergrove that would be useful as well. A Flt Lt Kraus was on the aircraft but could you confirm if he was a passenger or the navigator?

The 1407 ORB is AIR 29/866

Kraus had flown to Kaldadarnes with Eccles on 4 December to, according to him, start 1407 Met Flight; however, a cadre 1407 had formed about two weeks previously, and I can't see how he could have 'started' the unit in two days - especially as Eccles was the CO.

I'm very grateful for your offer.

    Cheers
    Brian

    Hello Brian,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Eccles and Allerton are mentioned as posted to 1407 on 20/11/1941 in the 269 Sq ORB (AIR27/1565). The Kaldadarnes ORB Form 540 (AIR 28/408) announces the arrival of Eccles, Kraus, Cooper and Wheaton on the 4th 'by air' from Aldergrove and then recorded their departure on the 5th for Reykjavik for attachment to 1407. No mention of the roles they performed.

I will send the ORB pages to you later.
    Hope this helps,
    Bruce
