Default Crashlocation Spitfire BL781 132 Sq on 19 Nov 1942

    Hi all,

Does anyone have access to 132 Sqdn ORB?
I'm trying to find out where F/O. M.J. Mills (NZ 414321) crashed his Spitfire BL781 on 19 Nov 1942.
So far I have two options from different sources:
    - North Sea off Dunkerque flying a rhubarb to the Veurne area, or
    - North Sea sw of Zoutelande (Schelde area, Netherlands)

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,

    Bas Maathuis

    Hi Bas,

My interpretation of this apparently conflicting information is that the Spitfire crashed off Dunkirk, but the pilot was found 6 km SW of Zouteland.

    Hi a15,

    I'm afraid not.
I forgot to mention when I started this thread that F/O. Mills is rembered on RM114.
    Thanks for your help anyway.

    Hi Bas,

It is quite possible that F/O Mills was buried at sea, hence his inclusion on the Runnymede Memorial.

    Hello Bass,
Perhaps Errol Martyn may come up with and answer for you when he picks up your query, but if you want a photo of Mills, just let me know on awarculus@xtra.co.nz

Not any help at all but if my good friend Bill McRae was alive he would have known the chap and all the background story. Bill was with 132 Sqn you see.

Bill was a Canadian Aberdonian. Quite a family history to have right there.
