    Default Bomber Command Clasp

    See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20783362
And will the names of those entitled (and posthumous) be published? If so, where, when, and how?

Canada announced a Bomber Command bar for the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal earlier this year. I hope some veterans are still alive to see them when they are made available in the future.

As always with anything to do with politics, the devil is in the detail!

Is this to be a new medal?
Is this to be a clasp or rosette to be added to another medal?
Is this to be an extension to the eligibility to the Aircrew Europe Star to take it up to VE-Day?
    IMPORTANTLY
Is this award only for 'badged' aircrew?

Lots of other thoughts but these will do for now and I'm sure other posters will have their own thoughts and ideas.

Looking at the 10 Downing Street brief ( http://www.number10.gov.uk/news/arctic-convoy-bomber-command-veterans-honoured/ ) and the various PDF links which make interesting reading, it appears for the Artic Convoy medal there are an estimated 95,000 recipients eligible with costing’s varied from £1m to £12m, and for the Bomber Command an estimated 125,000 recipients with medal costing’s estimated at £8m so maybe why the latter was scaled back to a clasp akin to that for the Battle of Britain.

The full criteria for eligibility is be published by the MOD in 2013.

It must be said for once it seems someone is paying attention to veterans and those acting on their behalf.

If the Bomber Command award is to be in the form of a Clasp, does anyone know which medal this will be worn upon. In the case of the Battle of Britain Clasp, this is worn on the 39-45 Star.

Having seen another posting about this subject on the forum today ( http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?14465-Bomber-Command-Clasp-new-medal )managed to find the updated news on this subject from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21583176

Looks like good news for relatives of those no longer with us.

    Default bomber command clasp

I have subbmitted my application for Bomber Command clasp for my late father FLt Lt Harold Wilson DFM of latterly 97 sqaudron...sadly it comes two years too late for him. He supported this movement and for the Memorial throughout his life..shame he never saw either come to fruition x

I believe it is to be worn on the ribbon of the 39/45 star
