Default Help with Dad's Service Record

I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me understand what my Dad would have been doing while he was posted to the following locations. I understand that these postings would have been for training purposes - but training in/on what? He joined the RAF in December 1937 and spent his career there as a member of the ground crew (an Erk??) until demobilization in early 1946.

    Hi Bronco,

16 Dec 37 1 Depot Uxbridge - the main depot, used for the equipment, the basic RAF training, waiting for postings, etc.
25 mar 38 3 S of TT (M) - No.3 School of Technical Training - undergoing training for the Ground Staff trade, as far as I know there were trained for example Flight Méchanics, Petrol Drivers etc.
