    Default Adam Douglas Rankine 80924

    Hi

I was wondering if anybody had come across my uncle Adam Douglas Rankine 80924, he lost a leg pre-war and
Adam Douglas Rankine 80924, according to family tradition he was in Intelligence on a Bomber Squadron in WWII.
All I know about him is the London Gazette
    Issue 34892 - 9 Jul 1940, p20 of 78 - Commission as Pilot Officer 80924
    Issue 35151 21 May 1941, p14 - granted rank of Flying Officer
    Issue 35241 8 Aug 1941, p18 commissioned Flying Officer
    Issue 35284 23 Sep 1941, p6 Flight Lieutenant Acting
    Issue 35717 22 Sep 1942, p5 Flt. Lt.
Issue 37057 27 Apr 1945 - Commision Reliquished (Flt. Lt. retaining rank of Sqn. Ldr.)
In addition his old school maintains that he was twice mentioned in dispatches.

    Any info welcome
    Taoh

    Hello Taoh,

    Welcome.

Only one MiD for 80924 Adam Douglas RANKINE:

    http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/35284/supplements/5569

    http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/35284/supplements/5571

    http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/35284/supplements/5572

You have misread the entry for " Flight Lieutenant (Acting)".

Old School probably confused 80924 A.D. RANKINE, with R/92700 D.A. RANKINE RCAF, who was also MiD.
