Pavel
I am looking for the article by Bill Chorley "The Raid on Mailly-le-Camp" published in Aviation News magazine in October 1986.
Does any of fellow members have a copy (a scan or a photocopy) of this article to share?
Any assistance in that matter would be greatly appreciated,
Regards,
Greg

Thank you Pavel,
That would be very nice of you if you could contact Bill in that matter.
I am particularly interested in details that concern German units training in Mailly-le-Camp depot which were bombed during raid on 3/4 May 1944. I wonder if he found any info on German units involved and their losses.
Regards,
Greg
Hi Greg,
Have you seen the following book ?:
Battle Under The Moon:An Account of the RAF Raid on Mailly-le-Camp, May 3/4 1944.
Currie,Jack
Southside:AirData Publications,1995.
I can't access my copy at the moment, but from memory, the losses are mentioned,
Col.

Yes, I have a copy of that book which is based also on the article by Bill Chorley.
However there are some discrepancies that concern German units involved and their losses that result from German reports, so that`s why I would like to compare those differences with the details given by Chorley.
By the way, those losses seem to by greatly exaggerated. And the bombed troops were probably not 21st Panzer Division but some smaller training units

Hello Greg,
Just to let you know, the RAF 103 Squadron Association at Elsham Wolds has an (bi)annual trip to Mailly-le-Camp.
See http://www.walter9.info/13Base/html/mailly-le-camp.html
You might want to contact the Association to see if someone may have a copy of the article you are after?
Regards,
Richard
Greg, as promised I have already contacted Mr. Chorley and here is his prompt reply:
"I do not have any information on any particular unit
undergoing training at Mailly - however, I do know that Luftwaffe personnel
undergoing basic training seem to have been present, but for what purpose
I do not know."
As for the article he is not sure if he still have a copy.
Sorry I can not help you more.
Pavel
