    Default Spitfire VB EP172 18 April 1943

Spitfire VB EP172 of 165 Sqn Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, is recorded as crashing half-a-mile SE of Newton Beach, Aberdeenshire on 18 April 1943, killing the Canadian Sergeant pilot. I am trying to establish his identity. Might it be R116161 F/S E W Pitt RCAF, who is buried at Dishforth Cemetery? Grateful for any confirmation.
