    Default Spitfire PR.XI PA943 8(C)OTU

8(C) OTU Dyce ORB (AIR 29/637) refers to crash of Spitfire '29' in the sea near Connel airfield after a fire over Oban on 25 November 1944, pilot stated as F/O Snipper. Morgan & Shacklady, however, says the a/c was PA943 and that the crash occured on 5 July 1945 (SOC 13 Sept 1945). I don't have the ORB beyond their departure from Dyce to Haverfordwest in January 1945. I suspect this is just a wrong entry in the ORB?? Could anyone who has this ORB check for me please?

    Hi Keith,
Spitfire at Connell on 25.11.44 was PA943, somewhere I have reference to the salvage and the engine seizing being due to camshaft failure.
