    G'day Chaps

    Can someone please tell me the history of Fairey Battle s/n K9449 before it was shipped to Canada to be re-serialed as R.C.A.F. s/n 1947.

    Hello,

    311 Fairey Battle Is delivered by Fairey, Stockport, between May 1938 and February 1939. Contract 522745/36. (K9176-K9486).

    K9449:

    9 MU - 9.1.39
    185 Sqn - 31.1.39
    52 Sqn - 30.6.39
    63 Sqn - 28.2.40
    12 OTU - 18.4.40
    Engine cut on approach; stalled and undercarriage collapsed, Dorchester LG, Oxon 24.6.40.
    Fairey - 10.7.40
    9 MU - 27.10.40
    47 MU - 5.3.41.
    To R.C.A.F. 19.4.41 as 1947.

    The Battle File has a detailed history of Battle 1947 in RCAF Service. Thanks all the same, but that will suffice for my needs.
