Default Barracuda crashes in Sept 1942 or Sept 1943

I posted a few days ago about a Barracuda crash in Northumberland in Sept 1941. It would appear now that the year was either 1942 or 1943.

The aircraft was en route to Prestwick when is suffered engine trouble and made a forced landing in a field, the pilot survived.

Any pointers to the identity of the aircraft and pilot would be welcome.

    Many thanks,

    Jim

    Default Barracuda crash

Jim-Please find a reply from my contact. "A check of Barracuda losses for September 1942 revealed that we only hold one card here in our archive for that particular year, for the month of April. For 1943,we have one card for March, two for April, two for May,one for August, one for November and one for December.I also checked 1944 and of the 24 A.M.Form 1180's,found two which relate to September[15th Flintshire and 30th Welford Park]."

So nothing for Northumberland? I suspect this aircraft was repaired and flew again, although another source referred to it as a Fairey Albacore.

Holidaying in the USA at the moment so I'm a little late with my reply.

    Many thanks

Jim-A search will be made for a possible Fairey Albacore A.M.Form 1180 for Northumberland in these 2 months again.

The limitation with using F1180 is that they will only record incidents to RAF aircraft with ATA/RAF/FAA crews or FAA aircraft with RAF/ATA crews.

What will not appear will be FAA aircraft with FAA crew.
