    Default Bomb Load

    Hello all

Does anyone have any idea where i could find out or does anyone know what the bomb load would have been on Lancaster DV329 of 44 Sqn on its last mission to Berlin beofre being shot down on 23/11/43.

    Any info would be appreciated

The Squadron ORB will no doubt record the exact load for that aircraft. It will be one of the formal configuatations probably a 4,000lb cookie and small bomb containers holding 30lb incendaries.

You might be lucky with a member holding the exact details on record.

    Cheers Colin

Does anyone hold such a record?

The ORB I have has nothing from 1942 onwards to 1945 so I cannot tell, besides which it looks the the item i have does not show any bomb loads so I have probably got the wrong document.

    Can anyone help me out?

    Cheers

It should be on Form 541, which has a breakdown of the crews, aircraft, bomb load and crew mission summary.

Can confirm, no details on bomb load in 541 of ORB, for any of the aircraft concerned, but it is recorded that F/O Newell returned early and jettisoned his bomb load, which consisted of a "cookie" and incendiaries, which "may" only may, have also applied to others in the squadron.

    Hi Alan
Cheers mate, I take it that load was "normal" for such a raid on Berlin?

    Hello
You can try to order the Bomber Command Loss Card for this aircraft!
