    Default 3 bpd (arp)

    Hi All

Still working on my current record and wondered if anyone could advise on the above.

I know 3 BPD is 3 Base Personnel Depot at Portici near Naples but its the ARP thats confusing me.

The airman in question had been serving with a radar unit and about a year before he had been admitted to hospital, probably due to illness rather than wounds or injury. He was posted here in August 1944 and then in October he retrained as an Airfield Controller before his next posting in November.

Two possibilities I've considered are 'Awaiting Remustering Posting' or 'Awaiting Repatriation'

Can anyone shed any light on it?

    All the best

The common phrase ARP (Air Raid Precautions) is usually associated with UK based activities. However, I have heard an airman say he was on ARP Duty and took it to mean the same thing. Perhaps someone who knows about RAF police arrangements can clarify if this is the case?

    Thanks Bruce

That's another possibility but his arrival a a Clerk-GD and departure as an Airfield Controller complicates the matter.
