Default Coastal Command Assess Damage to Oil Tanks 15th or 16th August 1940 please

    Hello Ross, Ladies and Gents

I have the following recorded from AIR 24/367 unfortunately not photocopied [my ref 128/03]:-

Direction Order to Coastal Command CC/G1/15/8 15.8.1940.
Apparently on the 16th August programme Coastal Command Group B were instructed to fly to Bordeaux to assess damage to oil tanks, requested by Bomber Command.

I have a lot of information about the actual 14/15th August Op., due to the death of my Grandfather. However, I would like any additional information, or where I might find additional information please, such as TNA file references, or any book references regarding this 15th August Coastal Command directive to assess the Bordeaux Oil Tanks including if possible who flew the mission, Squadron and if any Policy file, which mentions this Direction Order might exist?

    Many thanks Mark

    Hi Mark,

The PRU covered Bordeaux on 16 Aug 40.

The pilot was P/O S.J. Millen
