Default RCAF airmen first and middle names.

    Hallo,

I have tried unsuccessfully for years to find the first (one) and middle (four) names of the following Canadian airmen. All were involved in force-landings or crashes in or off Ireland during 1943-1944.

    F/O George W. Allen J.24911 Navigator 422 Sqn.
Sgt. William W. Norman Chalk R100601 Air Gunner 427 Sqn.
    F/Lt. H. A. Henderson J.10616 Pilot 282 Sqn.
Sgt. Charles L. Singer R.206461 Air Gunner 422 Sqn.

All survived the war and I cannot find the information I am looking for on The Canada Gazette. Any assistance will be especially appreciated as I have failed to make progress with these four names.

    Regards,

    Martin Gleeson.

The LAC confirmed these for us a few years back, all are on the website.

    Sgt Charles Langford SINGER R/206461
F/O George Willoughby ALLEN J/24911 RCAF

I don't think Chalk had that 'second' initial W, its certainly in the telegrams about the crash in M B Summers file but in my contacts with the LAC they never corrected his name with any third Christian name.

Have the LAC not replied to an email query on Henderson?

I'll email that chap and ask if you want.

    Dennis,

Thanks very much. Don't know why I did'nt check your excellent website first ! Thanks too for the pointer on Chalk, not something I had considered previously.

    'PennfieldParish',

Thanks for the complete name of Henderson.

Again thank you both for clearing up those outstanding queries.

    Regards,

    Martin.

I've just had a clarification email from my man in the LAc to confirm

"William Norman Chalk and Harold Arthur Henderson

    No third initial(W) for Chalk"
