    Default Spitfire K9979, 1 TEU Tealingm 25 May 1944

    Morgan & Shacklady list this elderly Spitfire, on charge to 1 TEU, Tealing, Angus, as crashing 25 May 1944. Does anyone know more details, including pilot's name please?

    Hello Keith,

    Perhaps confused with AD425 (or is it confused with K9979 ?)

    AD425 - Spitfire Vb, Merlin 46 No .. ? - 1.TEU (N/9.Grp/ADGB/N), damage cat.AC near Kinnell, Angus on 25.5.1944 (11:00h), F/Sgt W J ABBOT (NZ424401):
    Cine Gun exercise, Engine cowling came off in flight, caused damage to the airframe, safe landing made;

    Regards,

    Ian

    Thanks Ian - Morgan & Shacklady says of AD425 that it went to 61 OTU 25-6-44 and became 5544M 9-8-45, whereas they say K9979 was Cat E 28-8-44...
