    Default Spitfire , 122 Sqn, Dyce, 3 August 1945

RAF Dyce ORB records a 122 Sqn Spitfire crashing on landing at Dyce on 3 August 1945. The approach was too fast, the a/c touched down past the r/w intersection then bounced thrice, after which excessive brake was applied. The a/c then overshot across a road into a field and over-turned. The unfortunate pilot was trapped and asphyxiated to death 10 minutes before a crane could arrive to lift the a/c. The CoI found pilot had committed a 'grave error of judgement'. He was 138098 F/O D E Ghil RAF (27) and is commemorated at Enfield Crematorium. Does anyone know the serial of his a/c please?
