    Default Spitfire, Leuchars, 2 October 1944

    A Spitfire VB crashed behind Leuchars railway station on 2 October 1944, slightly injuring the pilot. Does anyone know the i/d of the a/c and pilot please?

    Hi Keith,
    Spitfire EN957 "London Transport", engine lost power and crashlanded. 2nd October 1944.

    EN957 - Spitfire LF.Vb, Merlin 45M No 218140 - 57.OTU (N/9.Grp/ADGB/N), crashed cat.B near Leuchars on 2.10.1944 (14:30h), F/Lt E J KEENAN (45895) injured:
    Formation flying, vibration, loss of power, Plt tried to abandon a/c but dinghy caught in cockpit, Plt crash landed a/c;
