According to Roy Conyers Nesbitt's book, 'Eyes of the RAF', J18534 F/O V I Gorrill RCAF DFC, was flying the last of a four a/c detachment to the USSR to cover the Tirpitz in Altenfjord, Norway. After departing Sumburgh, his instruments went u/s and he crashed near the Finnish border (presumably in Russia). He was rescued by the Russians. Does anyone know the i/d of the a/c please?
