    Default Bombing after midnight forbidden - 1940

    Does anyone know the rationale for this rule. In the ORB 37 Squadron in 1940 there are several refs to bombers returning "bombs on" because bombing after midnight was forbidden.

    The reason why no bombing was to take place after midnight came up in a previous thread;

    ... no satisfactory explanation was offered.

    Thanks Ian. I did a search and that didn't come up. It's an intriguing point and hopefully the reason will emerge eventually and not be lost in time so relatively soon after the events. Seems almost as daft as the logic during the "phoney war" period of the reluctance to bomb "private property".
