    Default Passing of Namrondooh

    To all RAFC friends,

I have just learned that Norman Hood, former RAF and avid historian of 76 Sqn, passed away on March 16, 2013 in Lincolnshire.

He had had a heart attack a few weeks earlier and was recuperating, but it was not to be.

I am very sad to lose a good friend. He and I worked closely on several projects together for 76 Sqn and Malvern Collegiate. I will miss his e-mails and generous assistance with all things RAF.

His funeral is April 3, in Boston, Lincs.

Most recently, Norman had compiled a history of 76 Sqn on the occasion of it being stood down. Prior to that, he arranged a memorial ceremony and fly-over in France at the site where his father's 76 Sqn Halifax went down, killing all the crew except his Dad, who was rescued by local citizens before being picked up by the Germans.

And, in case none of you had noticed it before, his RAFC nickname is Norman Hood spelled backwards.

Very sad to here this Norman was a true gentleman who helped me with information on my uncles brief time with 76 Sqn. He was always willing to help and will be very much missed.

    RIP Norman

    Hello

    Bad news indeed.

We had exchanged a few mails off board and he looked the typical English Gentleman.

    RIP

I, too, am greatly saddened to learn of Norman's passing. We corresponded off-board from time to time and he was a real gentleman.

He will be greatly missed - but always remembered.

This news has shocked me, as we were frequently in contact via email, exchanging info on 76sqdn. He made no mention of his situation regarding his heart, and i had not heard from him for a while.

Sad news indeed. A most helpful and knowledgeable man. May he rest in peace.

I have lost another friend! We had some interesting times trying to re-construct his Father's last flight on FSX, off-Forum. Well done, Norman, thou true and faithful servant! RIP.
